What inspires you to travel?
My curiosity to discover the new. New cultures, challenges and landscapes. I travel to learn more about society, myself, my profession, and other people. Travel teaches me to seize the moment, be passionate, and, simply put, enjoy life and stress less. 🙂
Where is the most spectacular place you’ve been so far?
This is the question I get asked most commonly and I still don’t have an answer for it. I often say China, as backpacking through its Northern and Western territories in the middle of winter was gnarly to say the least. I also think that Chinese landscape is often underestimated, and, in fact, some of the most beautiful in the world. New Zealand isn’t too bad either 😉
What’s the best animal encounter you’ve had while traveling?
A roaring moose chasing down his female counterpart in Canada. On a side note, I will travel through several African countries later this year and I’m pretty sure I’ll cry the first time I’ll see a wild elephant. Or lion. Or zebra. Oh god!
What do you eat on the road and how do you find out about places to eat?
I love to find local blogs and Instagram accounts who know the ins and outs of plant based dining in their area. . Nothing beats a home cooked feast. So, whenever I get a chance to, I will camp and cook or stay in an AirBnB. Cooking classes are a great way to experience local cuisine, too. Oh, and I usually carry a few Cliff Bars and stock up on fruit at a local produce market. You might be able to tell, I am rather passionate about food…
Any tips to staying well on the road?
A few minutes of daily meditation, and some yoga here and there heals the mind and body. Stress can run high while on the road, so I believe looking after my physical and mental health is crucial.
What do you have in your travel toilet bag?
I’m a big fan of the Tailor Oil Cleanse and Polish. Other than that, some Antipodes mineral foundation, Red Seal toothpaste, a tonic made by a lovely Auckland woman who does my eyebrows (random, I know! it’s called Be Blessed Skincare), and my Kiehls midnight recovery concentrate.
