The part nobody mentions

It isn’t your moisturiser. It’s what happens sixty seconds before it.

You can spend a fortune on the rest of the routine and still lose ground at the sink. Cleansing is the step you repeat daily, sometimes twice β€” and for skin that’s already producing fewer lipids than it used to, it’s the step with the most to take away.

That tight, squeaky feeling afterwards has been sold to us as proof something worked. It isn’t. It’s the sensation of a barrier with less to hold onto than it had ten minutes ago β€” and it’s the reason the serum you put on next has to work twice as hard.

CLEANSING FOR CHANGING SKIN

Don’t cleanse away what your skin has stopped replacing.

  • LIPIDS DECLINE

The skin’s own lipid production falls with age. The barrier holds less water, and it takes longer to put itself back together after anything that disturbs it.

  • SURFACTANTS DON'T CHOOSE

A foaming cleanser can’t tell the difference between the SPF you want gone and the lipids you need to keep. It lifts both in the same pass.

  • IT COMPOUNDS

No other step is repeated as often. Small daily losses accumulate faster than a serum can replace them β€” which is why barrier work has to start at the cleanse, not after it.

  • THE KNOCK-ON

Dryness and tightness after washing, dullness, reactivity to products that never used to bother you, and the early visible signs that follow barrier stress.

HOW BALM CLEANSE WORKS

Balm first. Then barrier.

A dual-phase cleanse. The first phase takes the day off. The second phase leaves something behind β€” which is the part most cleansers skip entirely.

  • PHASE ONE β€” BALM

    Dissolve, don’t strip.

Skin-compatible oils and butters break down makeup, SPF and the day’s build up on dry skin. Like dissolves like, so there’s no scrubbing and no tugging β€” you’re massaging, not dragging.

  • PHASE TWO β€” MILK

    Rinse, and replenish.

Add water and the balm transforms into a milk that rinses clean without a greasy film. The barrier-supporting actives stay on the skin rather than going down the drain with everything else.

More Than Just a Cleanse

  • Barrier Lipid Complex

Skin-identical lipids, delivered in their optimal balance. They help replenish the essential lipids a cleanser can deplete β€” supporting barrier function, improving moisture retention, and restoring a healthier, more resilient-looking complexion. The reason this is a barrier step and not just a removal step.

  • CoQ10

A powerful antioxidant that helps protect skin from environmental stress and free-radical damage during cleansing β€” the moment the barrier is most exposed. Supports a healthier-looking, more resilient complexion.

  • Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract

Helps support the skin’s collagen structure and smooths the look of texture for a firmer, more lifted appearance. Delivers an immediate tightening effect that improves over time with continued use.

How to use it.

Unscented and gentle around the eyes, Balm Cleanse melts away waterproof mascara with no stinging required.

  • On dry skin

Scoop with the spatula β€” a little goes further than you think. Massage into dry skin. No water yet. Take your time; this is the part that does the work.

  • Add water

Wet your hands and keep massaging. The balm emulsifies into a milk and the whole film β€” makeup, SPF, the day β€” lifts with it.

  • Wipe, don't scrub

Remove with a warm, damp Tailor Towel. Skin should feel soft and comfortable, not tight. If it feels tight, something in your routine is stripping it.

  • Double Cleanse

Simply massage, rinse and repeat β€” no second cleanser needed. If you prefer to use a water-based cleanser as your second cleanse, use Gel Cleanse.

BEFORE YOU ASK

The questions people actually have about balms.

Will a cleansing balm break me out?

It’s the most common complaint about balms β€” and most of the time the culprit is residue, not the balm itself. A wax-forward balm that doesn’t fully emulsify can sit in pores after rinsing, and that gets blamed on purging.

Balm Cleanse is formulated to transform into a milk with water and rinse clean, without a film. Add enough water, keep massaging until the texture changes, and rinse properly β€” that’s where most balm problems start and end.

Do I have to double cleanse?

Not necessarily. How often you cleanse should be tailored to what your skin needs β€” and what’s been on it.

Use Balm Cleanse when you want to gently melt away makeup, SPF and daily build-up. Follow with Gel Cleanse for a fresh, hydrating water-based cleanse. If you’ve had a full day of makeup or SPF, you can double cleanse with Balm Cleanse. Simply massage, rinse and repeat β€” no second cleanser needed.

You don’t have to cleanse morning and night. One cleanse may be all your skin needs, while other days call for a little more.

If you have oily or combination skin, Gel Cleanse can be a great option in the morning to freshen and refresh your skin.

Tailor your cleanse to your skin, not a skincare rulebook.

Is it heavily fragranced? Will it sting my eyes?

A common issue with balm cleansers is that they can be heavily fragranced and uncomfortable around the eyes.

Tailor Balm Cleanse un-fragranced and is designed to be gentle around the eye area, helping dissolve waterproof mascara and liner without the need to scrub or tug at your lash line.

Full ingredient list will be published at launch.

Will it leave my face greasy?

No β€” that’s the point of the balm-to-milk transformation. It goes on as a balm so it has slip and time to dissolve everything, then water turns it into a milk that rinses away rather than sitting on the surface.

Skin should feel soft and comfortable afterwards, not coated.

I’m in my fifties and everything irritates my skin now. Is this for me?

It’s specifically who it was designed for. Balm Cleanse is built for mature and barrier-compromised skin β€” skin that’s producing fewer of its own lipids and reacting to things that never used to be a problem.

There’s no foaming surfactant to strip, no mechanical scrubbing required, and the Barrier Lipid Complex replaces what a cleanse would otherwise take.

Why $45.50 when I can buy a balm for $25?

Because a $25 balm is doing one job. This one is a cleanse and a barrier treatment in the same 60 seconds β€” Barrier Lipid Complex, CoQ10 and Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, at 98.3% natural ingredients, in a 50ml jar with the scoop included.

If your barrier is the thing holding your routine back, the cleanse is the cheapest place to fix it.
