Squalane is a naturally occurring anti-ageing component of the skin. Your skin produces less as you age, but luckily it can be replenished by adding it into your skincare routine. It moisturises and encourages your skin to balance natural oil production.
Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is a liquid wax and a natural occlusive agent, which moisturises, nourishes and protects your skin. Jojoba oil is a similar consistency to your skin's natural oils, making it a great option for oily skin as it helps to regulate sebum (oil) production and is non-comedogenic (meaning it won't clog your pores).

NZ Gotu kola

Works to deeply brighten your skin, while reducing pigmentation over time. Its a powerful antioxidant, which fights off free radical damage.
Glycerin

I'm not sure if you know this, but Glycerin is sourced from organic coconut oil (yes, organic). It's a humectant that prevents water loss in your skin to keep it hydrated and moisturised for longer (AKA dream skin).
Shea butter

Shea butter is a super nourishing ingredient that moisturises and smooths dry and irritated skin. It creates a protective barrier to lock in hydration.
Grape seed oil

Grape seed oil will deeply nourish dry or damaged skin, reducing flakiness and restoring suppleness. It’s locally sourced from Marlborough.
Sunflower seed oil

Sunflower seed oil is rich in both linoleic and oleic acids, and vitamin E. It easily penetrates your skin for deep moisturising and reduces inflammation. Antioxidant properties fight signs of ageing caused by free radical damage.
Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fatty acid and an antioxidant so it is doubly nourishing for the skin. It protects against free radical damage, fights inflammation and boosts skin healing.
Aqua (water)

Water is used as the base of many skincare products including Restore, as a solvent, because it is what the other ingredients in the formulation dissolve into, to create the formula (aka the end result). This formulation used a lot less water than our other water-based products to give it a heavier buttery consistency.
Natural fragrance

Infused with Tailor's iconic scent with notes of vanilla, green and floral. Our fragrance is a bespoke blend of extracts of essential oil chosen for their relaxing and soothing properties. All the ingredients in our fragrance are derived from natural sources, as essential oils can be quite active on the skin and it's important to us we made sure our fragrance is gentle.
Benzyl alcohol

We're about to be very transparent with you here. This is our chosen preservative system in our skincare range. Benzyl alcohol is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-bacterial preservative used to stabilise skincare. It is multi-purpose (think Tailor) as it also helps dissolve other ingredients and decreases the viscosity (thickness) of formulas so they flow more easily - you know that squeeze of free-flow gel.
Dehydroacetic acid
[say it like] dee•high•jrow•seat•ick acid
One of our preservatives in Renew with a potent anti-fungal to keep this cleanser safe to use for longer - because we all love a long shelf life. When mixed (& matched) with benzyl alcohol they create a broad-spectrum preservative against yeasts, moulds and funguses. Take note, our preservative system is synthetically derived and is ECOCERT certified to be used in natural skincare.
Propanediol

This ingredient will increase the absorption of ingredients and enhance their effectiveness. It will also help moisturise your skin, leaving a smooth and dewy complexion.
Caprylic/Capric triglyceride

A natural alternative that has antioxidant smoothening properties for your skin. It can also act as a preservative in this night balm.
Xylitylglucoside & Anhydroxylitol

Natural and derived from a plant, this ingredient has humectant properties (draws water into your skin) to improve the ability for your skin to absorb and retain moisture.
Xylitol

This ingredient has humectant (draws water into your skin) and skin conditioning properties.
Glyceryl stearate
[say it like] glis•suh•rill stear•ate
This is one of our emollsifiers, which is a naturally derived fatty acid. It prevents oil and water from separating in Restore, and helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier. It also doubles as an emollient, which acts as a natural lubricant to soften and smoothen your skin, also forming a protective barrier to hold in moisture.
Sodium stearoyl glutamate
[say it like] sow•dee•uhm stear•oll glue•ta•mate
This is one of our emollsifiers, which prevents oil and water from separating in Restore, and helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier. It's super gentle on your skin, as it deeply conditions, nourishes and smoothens your skin. FYI, great for dry and dehydrated skin.
Cetearyl alcohol

This is one of our emollients, which is an oil-based formula which forms a protective film over the skin to hold moisture in the skin. It will deeply soften and smoothen your skin.
Sodium phytate
[say it like] sow•dee•uhm feye•tayt
The stabiliser in the group. It is a texture enhancer to make formulas feel smooth to apply, and it is also a preservative which keeps skincare safe and free from microbes (aka nasties). We call this multi-purpose.
