Not all ingredients are created equal, when it comes to hydration. Enter, Pentavitin. While many ingredients ‘claim’ to keep your skin hydrated, one standout that actually does what it says is Pentavitin. It’s a skincare hero known for its exceptional ability to lock in moisture and improve skin health…for 72 hours, yes that’s 3 days of skin hydration. But what exactly is Pentavitin, and why does it deserve a spot in your routine?
What is Pentavitin?
Pentavitin is a 100% natural (it’s in our good books already), plant-derived ingredient, also known for its scientific name of Saccharide Isomerate. It acts as a powerful moisture magnet, literally, as “it binds to free lysine groups on the keratin in the skin which prevents the pentavitin® from washing away allowing it to increase water retention and provide 72 hours of moisturisation.” Impressed yet? I know I am. What sets it apart from many other moisturising ingredients is its ability to mimic the skin's natural carbohydrates, allowing it to form a deep connection with the skin's outer layer. Unlike other hydrating ingredients that might wash away, have we mentioned yet that Pentavitin binds to the skin for up to 72 hours? Well, it does. And this ensures that this moisture is locked into your skin, keeping it consistently hydrated. So, without further ado, let’s look at its benefits…because yes, there’s more where that came from.
Is Pentavitin better for hydration than Hyaluronic Acid?
Both Pentavitin and Hyaluronic Acid are effective moisturising ingredients, but they work in different ways. While Hyaluronic Acid attracts water to the skin, retaining it in the skin, Pentavitin binds to the skin and forms a moisture reservoir. For optimal hydration in your skin, it is recommended to use products that contain both ingredients. It just so happens that Pentavitin can be found in our newest product, Tailor Elevate, and Hyaluronic Acid can be found in Tailor Hydrate. You would use Elevate as a mask and remove, followed by Hydrate.
Benefits of Pentavitin in your skincare:
Deep & long-lasting hydration
In the way Pentavitin works on the skin (mentioned above), we can see this moisture magnet binds to the skin, preventing it from being washed away in wash-off products e.g., a mask. By binding to the skin, it provides the skin with 72 hours of deep moisturisation, which is clinically proven. But, it doesn't just sit on the surface—it penetrates into the outer layers of the skin, hydrating from within and helping to restore moisture levels in your skin, keeping it balanced and hydrated for longer.
Strengthens the skin barrier
A compromised skin barrier leads to dryness e.g., transepidermal water loss, irritation, and sensitivity. By reinforcing the skin’s protective barrier, Pentavitin helps your skin retain moisture in the skin, by working in harmony with the skin’s natural hydration mechanisms. It helps to restore the skin barrier, and defend against external aggressors.
Soothes and reduces sensitivity
Because it helps maintain skin hydration, Pentavitin creates a domino effect as it also works to calm and soothe irritated and sensitive skin. This is because as it strengthens the skin’s barrier and deeply hydrates, it avoids moisture loss, which leads to dry, flaky, and reactive skin, as the skin’s barrier is stripped, leaving it very exposed to environmental pressures.
Skin types: Is Pentavitin good for oily skin too?
Yes, Pentavitin is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin. It provides lightweight hydration without clogging pores or causing greasiness. It helps to balance the skin’s moisture levels, leading to a healthier and more balanced complexion.
P.S. I’m not sure if you missed the memo, but Pentavitin can be found in our newbie Tailor Elevate. Just saying.
So, if you’re not convinced by now that Pentavitin deserves a spot in your skincare routine, and is indeed the ‘moisture magnet’, well, perhaps you don’t have a skincare routine (hahaha). Until our next Tailor talk…
Love,
Tailor x
