You’ve probably seen the skincare buzzwords “rinse-resistant” and “moisture-magnet” everywhere, but what do they actually mean, and should you be paying attention to them?
Here’s the breakdown. “Rinse-resistant” ingredients are designed to stay on the skin even after cleansing, helping to continuously support hydration and protect the skin barrier long after you’ve washed your face. Meanwhile, “moisture-magnet” ingredients work by attracting and binding water to the skin, helping to draw in hydration and lock it in for a plumper, softer, and more balanced complexion.
And yes, you should be paying attention. Understanding these modern skincare terms helps you make more informed product choices and choose formulas that deliver long-lasting hydration, which is essential for maintaining a healthy, resilient skin barrier.
Without further ado, let’s break down some of the key ingredients Tailor has been incorporating into our formulations since day one.
Rinse-resistant: Aloe vera
You may know it for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, helping to reduce redness and irritation. But it doesn’t stop there, it also deeply hydrates and moisturises the skin. Being rinse-resistant means its benefits stay on the skin even after washing it off, helping maintain hydration and barrier protection from dryness. Found in Gel Cleanse.

Rinse-resistant: Pentavitin
This hydrating ingredient clings to skin and is clinically proven to keep skin hydrated even after you rinse. It delivers up to 72 hours of moisture, strengthens the skin barrier, and reduces water loss. It also binds directly to the skin’s layer, creating a moisture reservoir that improves skin elasticity and plumpness. Found in Elevate.
Moisture-magnet: Marshmallow extract
It binds water to the skin and helps draw moisture into the upper layers, supporting deeper cellular hydration. Naturally rich in polysaccharides, it forms a light, water-loving coating on the skin that helps reduce moisture loss and keep hydration locked in for longer. This helps maintain long-lasting barrier softness, smoothness, and suppleness. Found in Elevate.

Moisture-magnet: Aquaxyl
It is a plant-derived sugar complex that goes beyond surface hydration. Clinically proven to hydrate and improve the appearance of skin smoothness, it works by optimising water circulation within the skin. And it doesn’t just add hydration, it also helps the skin to attract and hold onto moisture more effectively for longer, supporting a healthy, resilient barrier. Found in Moisture and Restore.
Moisture-magnet: New Zealand Red Seaweed
It hydrates, plumps, and strengthens barrier function by attracting and binding water within the skin, helping it stay hydrated for longer. Therefore, supporting sustained moisture levels. Naturally rich in polysaccharides and minerals, it helps improve the skin’s ability to retain water while reinforcing a resilient barrier against environmental stressors. Found in Restore.
Moisture-magnet: Polysaccharides
These are naturally occurring long-chain sugars that act as powerful water-binding molecules within the skin. They attract and hold large amounts of water, helping to increase hydration levels within the upper layers of the skin where it matters most. By forming a moisture-binding network on and within the skin, they help slow water loss and improve the skin’s ability to retain hydration over time. This supports improved elasticity, a smoother skin texture, and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines (also known as, your skin barrier at it's best). Found in Moisture.

The bottom line:
While rinse-resistant and moisture-magnet ingredients are trending right now, as new products pop up with these “ground-breaking” ingredients, they’re not new to Tailor. We’ve been formulating smart, science-backed skincare to support your skin barrier like this for years. Take Moisture for example, it was formulated in 2013 with moisture-magnet ingredients already at its core (just saying).
