Antioxidant-rich grape seed extract defends against UV free radical damage plus improves skin elasticity and firmness. Grown in the Marlborough region, sustainably sourced NZ Sauvignon Blanc Grapes, these grape seeds have twice as many polyphenols than any other grape seeds in the world. Antioxidant-rich Polyphenols prevent oxidative stress and slow down the ageing process.

Aqua

What makes up the bulk of this formulation. Water is used as the base of many skincare products including Renew, as a solvent, because it is what the other ingredients in the formulation dissolve into, to create the formula (aka the end result).
Glycerin

Glycerin will actively draw water into your skin to prevent water loss. In turn, keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised for longer (healthy looking skin).
Grape seed oil

Grape seed oil will deeply nourish dry or damaged skin, reducing flakiness and restoring suppleness. It’s locally sourced from Marlborough.
Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is a liquid wax and a natural occlusive agent, which moisturises, nourishes and protects your skin. This oil is a similar consistency to your skin's natural oils, making it ideal for oily skin as it helps to regulate sebum (oil) production and is non-comedogenic (meaning it won't clog your pores).
Natural fragrance

Infused with Tailor's iconic scent with notes of vanilla, green and floral. Our fragrance is a bespoke blend of extracts of essential oil chosen for their relaxing and soothing properties. All the ingredients in our fragrance are derived from natural sources, as essential oils can be quite active on the skin and it's important to us we made sure our fragrance is gentle.
Benzyl alcohol

We're about to be very transparent with you here. This is our chosen preservative system in our skincare range. Benzyl alcohol is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-bacterial preservative used to stabilise skincare. It is multi-purpose (think Tailor) as it also helps dissolve other ingredients and decreases the viscosity (thickness) of formulas so they flow more easily - you know that squeeze of free-flow gel.
Dehydroacetic acid

One of our preservatives in Renew with a potent anti-fungal to keep this cleanser safe to use for longer - because we all love a long shelf life. When mixed (& matched) with benzyl alcohol they create a broad-spectrum preservative against yeasts, moulds and funguses. Take note, our preservative system is synthetically derived and is ECOCERT certified to be used in natural skincare.
Xanthan gum

I'm a plant polysaccharide, which hydrates your skin without clogging those pores. And with long term use, they've been *scientifically proven* to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Vitamin E

A lover of vitamins and for good reason. Vitamin E is a fatty acid and an antioxidant so it double downs on being super nourishing for your skin. It protects against free radical damage, fights inflammation and boosts skin healing. And this natural vitamin E is derived from soybean oil through a non-chemical process before being blended with sunflower seed oil (oh, technology). The manufacturer for this material is a member of the round table on responsible soy (RTRS), and are “fully committed to the principles of environmental responsibility and good agricultural practices". It has the Tailor tick.
Citric acid

An exfoliator to remove dead skin cells on your skin, to deeply cleanse pores, smoothen skin tone and soften your skin. In the case of Renew, it is uses as PH adjuster to get to the optimal PH for your skin.
Sclerotium gum

This natural gum formulates an instant gel base when mixed with water.
Glyceryl stearate citrate

This is one of our emulsifiers which prevents oil and water from separating in Renew. It will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. Derived from vegetable oils and citric acid, it also helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier.
Lysolecithin

This is one of our emolsifiers, which prevents oil and water from separating in Renew. It will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. It also helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier. The ultimate moisturising, nourishing and repairing ingredient for your skin.
Polyglyceryl-3 stearate

This is one of our emollients which is an oil-based formula which forms a protective film over the skin to hold moisture in the skin. It is super gentle on your skin as it deeply conditions, nourishes and smoothens your skin. FYI, great for dry and dehydrated skin.
Hydrogenated lecithin

This is one of our emollients which is an oil-based formula which forms a protective film over the skin to hold moisture in the skin. It is deeply moisturise and hydrate your skin as it has a high amount of hydrating properties. FYI, great for dry and dehydrated skin.
Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (guar) gum
[say it like] sigh•yam•op•sis tet•ra•gone•nol•oba gum
This is one of our texture enhancers, a natural thickener and gelling agent to help improve Renew's texture, stability and penetration. It is derived from the seeds of the guar plant.
Pullulan
[say it like] pull•loo•lins
This is one of our texture enhancers, it's a natural polysaccharide that has water-soluble properties. It enhances the 'prettiness' and texture of Renew.
Potassium sorbate
[say it like] pow•tass•ee•uhm saw•bate
One of our preservatives in Renew, this is the potassium salt of sorbic acid. This is going to help protect this serum to ensure it's safe and free from bacteria, especially in water-based formulas. Without them, your product would be required to be kept in the fridge, not lasting longer than a couple of weeks.
