Tailored [skin-loving] Ingredients

Aqua (water)

[say it like] a•kwuh

What makes up the bulk of this formulation. Water is used as the base of many skincare products including Gel Cleanse, as a solvent, because it is what the other ingredients in the formulation dissolve into, to create the formula (aka the end result).

Sodium coco-sulfate

[say it like] sow•dee•uhm kow•kow•soul•fate

Our beloved plant-based derived, mild anionic surfactant (no stripping of skin). It’s used to gently (and I mean super gently) cleanse your skin, and is the reason behind the foam.

Aloe vera

[say it like] aah•low veer•ah

You may know it for it's anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, reducing redness and irritation, while giving your skin a glow. And it doesn't stop there, it also deeply hydrates and moisturises the skin too. An ingredient that gives back to your skin in a cleanser? Unheard of, but not with Tailor Gel Cleanse.

Cocamidopropyl betaine

[say it like] cok•a•mid•o•pro•pill bee•tain

We're talking silky smooth. This ingredient allows this cleanser's formula to be smooth to apply. And it doesn't stop there. It also doubles as a water soluble surfactant (think foamy bubbles), derived from coconut oil.

Glycerin

[say it like] gli•suh•ruhn

I'm not sure if you know this, but glycerin is sourced from organic coconut oil (yes, organic). It's a humectant that prevents water loss in your skin to keep it hydrated and moisturised for longer (AKA dream skin).

Coco-glucoside & Lauryl glucoside

[say it like] co•co•glue•ko•side & law•rull glue•ko•side

Have you been introduced to glucose? Well, these two ingredients are glucosides (derived from glucose), oh and they're naturally derived btw. They’re main talent is to gently cleanse and moisturise your skin. A whole lot of skin loving naturalness here.

Sodium chloride

[say it like] sow•dee•uhm klaw•ride

This is what gives us that gel-like (thick) texture, AKA a thickener / binder. Although it's better known as table salt, it's used in skincare to help bind and thicken to create this luxurious gel texture, yes you know the one. Despite its drying abilities, the low amounts used in Gel Cleanse means it won’t dehydrate your skin.

Benzyl alcohol

[say it like] ben•zile al•kuh•hol

We're about to be very transparent with you here. This is our chosen preservative system in our skincare range. Benzyl alcohol is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-bacterial preservative used to stabilise skincare. It is multi-purpose (think Tailor) as it also helps dissolve other ingredients and decreases the viscosity (thickness) of formulas so they flow more easily - you know that squeeze of free-flow gel.

Sodium phytate

[say it like] sow•dee•uhm feye•tayt

The stabiliser in the group. It is a texture enhancer to make formulas feel smooth to apply, and it is also a preservative which keeps skincare safe and free from microbes (aka nasties). We call this multi-purpose.

Milk thistle ester

[say it like] milk thi•sl eh•stir

Guess what, milk thistle ester is the natural alternative to silicone. This locks in all the moisture and protects your skin from environmental stressors and pollution. Not only does it do this, but it also has antioxidant and calming effects, which helps protect your skin from UV light exposure.

Dehydroacetic acid

[say it like] dee•high•jrow•seat•ick acid

One of our preservatives in Gel Cleanse with a potent anti-fungal to keep this cleanser safe to use for longer - because we all love a long shelf life. When mixed (& matched) with benzyl alcohol they create a broad-spectrum preservative against yeasts, moulds and funguses. Take note, our preservative system is synthetically derived and is ECOCERT certified to be used in natural skincare.

Green tea extract

[say it like] green tee x•trackt

Fancy some green tea...but in your skincare? It's actually a potent antioxidant that can soothe and protect your skin. It’s like your skin’s assistant bodyguard, because we know who your head bodyguard is (SPF). It also has the ability to reduce sebum, great for breakout and oily prone skin types (take note).

Hydrolysed oat protein

[say it like] owt prow•teen

A big softie. Super gentle in nature and used in this formula to soften, condition and moisturise your skin (sounds like a bit of me). It helps your skin better retain moisture and hydration (bye dehydration). Who would’ve thought oats would have such a big role in skincare, and not just overnight oats. This ingredient is gluten free.

Coconut oil

[say it like] kow•kow•nut oi•ill

The smooth talker. Coconut oil is used as an emollient and is very moisturising for your skin. It's an amazing all-round ingredient, and is ultra hydrating and moisturising for your skin. It helps reduce flakiness, restores suppleness and helps protect your skin from water loss. Plus, it's an organic ingredient. A dry skin must-have, FYI.

How to Use

Use Gel Cleanse once or twice daily, morning and night (tailored to your skin). Apply a small amount to hands and massage into dry skin, for a double cleanse, add water and lather into a foam. Remove with warm, damp Tailor Towel.

Multi-targeting

Because who has one skin type / concern these days. Tailor is for everyone (yes, that includes your partner that sneakily uses it anyway), click on your skin type and we'll tell you why.

Breakout prone

I will help break down and combine oils and impurities on your skin (AKA excellent deeper cleanse into pores). My green tea extract will reduce sebum (an oily substance on your skin), and this will mean less blemishes, as this sebum won’t build up on your skin and clog pores, which leads to breakouts.

Dry skin

Humectants (AKA Glycerin) will become your new favourite. Glycerin will deeply cleanse your skin without stripping it (no tight feeling), as well as hydrate your skin, leaving it super soft. But don't forget Oat Protein, which will enhance your skin’s protective barrier, reducing water loss. Dry skin requires moisture to be hydrated, to reduce dryness in your skin. FYI, Gel Cleanse is beyond ideal for dry skin.

Oily skin

I will help break down and combine oils and impurities on your skin (AKA excellent deeper cleanse into pores). My Green Tea Extract will reduce sebum (an oily substance on your skin), and this will mean less blemishes, as this sebum won’t build up on your skin and clog pores, which leads to breakouts.

Ageing skin

When you age, your skin tends to become dryer. Therefore, hydration is an absolute must here. Glycerin (humectant) will cleanse your skin without stripping it (removing moisture), but also deeply hydrate your skin, in turn this will plump your skin and give a more youthful complexion. And with the helping hand of Oat Protein, you'll enhance your skin's protective barrier, reducing water loss (AKA dryness).

Combination skin

Parts of your skin are oily and parts of your skin are dry. Not the easiest to please. But don't worry, the combination of Gel Cleanse ingredients will synergistically work to deeply cleanse, hydrate and remove excess oil. This leaves your skin fresh and soft.

Dehydrated skin

Did you know dehydrated skin indicates a lack of water? Humectants (AKA Glycerin) will become your new favourite, as they draw water into themselves. Glycerin will deeply hydrate your skin, leaving it super soft. Meanwhile, Oat Protein will enhance your skin’s protective barrier, reducing water loss. Dehydrated skin requires moisture to be hydrated, to reduce dullness in your skin. AKA Gel Cleanse is beyond ideal for dry skin.

Uneven skin

My beloved Green Tea Extract, AKA potent antioxidant will protect your skin, like a bodyguard, but it will never replace your sunscreen. Meanwhile, Milk Thistle Ester will moisturise and protect your skin from environmental stressors and pollution. But Milk Thistle Ester also has antioxidant and calming effects, and helps protect your skin from UV light exposure. Some call it a double dose of antioxidant skin-goodness.

Sensitive skin

The two newest ingredients to the Tailor range, Aloe Vera and Oat Protein will gently cleanse and calm your skin. Ideal for sensitive skin as it's not going to be too harsh for your skin causing irritation, and will settle your skin (happy dance). Yet, Milk Thistle Ester (a natural silicone) will help enhance your skin barrier, making it stronger and less sensitive. Your skin will love you for this addition. I have been dermatologically tested to be gentle on senstive skin with a rating of excellent. As aways, we recommend doing a patch test first.

Normal skin

Your the easiest skin type to please. I will help gently cleanse your skin to remove dirt including makeup and SPF, without compromising healthy barrier function (yipee). I also have antioxidant ingredients, which will protect your skin from environmental stressors (yipee, round two). FYI, you take advantage of all my benefits.

Twist lid

Delivered with a twist lid to best dispense product.

The mission is clear. It’s literally in the name.

To offer skincare that’s tailored to your skin.

Tailored skincare means concise skincare. Multi-purpose products made to treat multiple skin concerns, in multiple ways, without needing to buy multiple bottles. Think a mask that works as an exfoliator and a spot treatment, a hyaluronic acid serum that is also a primer or a moisturiser that’s also an eye serum and an overnight mask.

When each product can work in multiple ways, it saves you buying a million products you’re never going to use. Buy stuff that works. And then works in another way. And another. And on the shelf.

Buy less, buy Tailor.
