Tailored [skin-loving] Ingredients

Aqua (Water)

[say it like] a•kwuh

What makes up the bulk of this formulation. Water is used as the base of many skincare products including Polish, as a solvent, because it is what the other ingredients in the formulation dissolve into, to create the formula.

Bentonite Clay

[say it like] ben•toe•night clay

Did you know I'm one of the most super absorbent clays on the market, soaking up all your excess oils and impurities. And I'm locally sourced from Hawke’s Bay.

Pumice Powder

[say it like] pew•miss powh•da

Our super gentle natural exfoliant will gently buff your skin for a smoother and brighter complexion (AKA the Tailor glow).

Glycerin

[say it like] gli•suh•ruhn

I'm not sure if you know this, but glycerin is sourced from organic coconut oil (yes, organic). It's a humectant that prevents water loss in your skin to keep it hydrated and moisturised for longer (AKA dream skin).

Salicylic Acid

[say it like] sell•ill•cyl•ick acid

Your BHA chemical exfoliant to work it's magic on both the surface and deeper layers of your skin (we're talking deep cleanse) to break down your congestion, reduce any sebum and unclog those pores. All while soothing any irritation, redness and puffiness in your skin. FYI, an absolute must for breakout prone skin.

Benzyl Alcohol

We're about to be very transparent with you here. This is our chosen preservative system in our skincare range. Benzyl alcohol is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-bacterial preservative used to stabilise skincare. It is multi-purpose (think Tailor) as it also helps dissolve other ingredients and decreases the viscosity (thickness) of formulas so they flow more easily.

Dehydroacetic Acid

[say it like] dee•high•jrow•seat•ick acid

One of our preservatives in Polish with a potent anti-fungal to keep this cleanser safe to use for longer - because we all love a long shelf life. When mixed (& matched) with benzyl alcohol they create a broad-spectrum preservative against yeasts, moulds and funguses. Take note, our preservative system is made with synthetic materials that have been ECOCERT certified to be used in natural skincare.

Xanthan Gum

[say it like] zan•thumb gum

I'm a plant polysaccharide, which ​​hydrates your skin without clogging those pores. And with long term use, they've been *scientifically proven* to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Sodium Phytate

[say it like] sow•dee•uhm feye•tayt

The stabiliser in the group. It is a texture enhancer to make formulas feel smooth to apply, and it is also a preservative which keeps skincare safe and free from microbes (aka nasties). We call this multi-purpose.

How to Use

Use a 20c coin size of Polish as an exfoliating scrub every other day, as a detoxifying mask once a week, or as a spot treatment as required. Remove with warm, damp Tailor Towel.

Breakout prone

My bentonite clay (one of the most absorbent clays there is) will help draw out all those unwanted impurities, my salicylic acid is a BHA which will deeply cleanse your pores to unclog, and my Pumice powder will gently buff away dead skin cells. I'm best used for your skin type every other day as a exfoliating scrub, once a week as a detoxifying mask, and on your breakouts as an overnight spot treatment.

*You'll want to mix and match with Renew, as it has vegan probiotic lysate in it to increase your natural cell regeneration to strengthen your skin barrier, clearing breakouts.

Dry skin

My pumice powder will gently exfoliate your skin, without stripping your skin thanks to my skin moisturising ingredients glycerin and coconut oil. Due to the absorbent nature of the bentonite clay we would recommend to not use as a detox mask, and instead as an exfoliating scrub once a week and as a overnight spot treatment as required.

Oily skin

My bentonite clay will soak up all your excess oils and my salicylic acid is a BHA and will deeply cleanse your pores, to unclog. You're best to apply me as a detoxifying mask to your oily areas once a week, an exfoliating scrub every other day and overnight spot treatment as required.

Combination skin

Parts of your skin are oily and parts of your skin are dry. My Bentonite clay will soak up all your excess oils and my Pumice powder will gently exfoliate your skin, without stripping your skin thanks to my skin moisturising ingredients Glycerin and Coconut Oil. You're best to apply me as a mask to your oily areas for your skin type.

Dehydrated skin

My Pumice powder will gently exfoliate your skin, without stripping your skin with my skin thanks to my skin moisturising ingredients Glycerin and Coconut Oil. Due to the highly absorbent nature of the Bentonite Clay we would recommend to not use as a mask.

Uneven skin

My Pumice powder will gently exfoliate your skin and buff away dead skin cells, to help brighten and smoothen your complexion. You're best to apply me as a detoxifying mask once a week and an exfoliating scrub every other day.

Sensitive skin

My pumice powder will gently exfoliate your skin and buff away dead dry skin cells, without drying your skin with my skin moisturising ingredients glycerin and coconut oil. Due to bentonite clay and salicylic acid being highly active ingredients, we would recommend to only use as an exfoliating scrub. I have been dermatologically tested to be gentle on sensitive skin with a rating of excellent. As aways, we recommend doing a patch test first.

Normal skin

Your the easiest skin type to please. My Bentonite clay will soak up all your excess oils and banish breakouts, unclog your pores and gently exfoliate your skin, and instantly brighten and smoothen your complexion. FYI, you take advantage of all my benefits.

What sort of packaging are we talking here?

Delivered in our 50% PCR (post-consumer resin) tubes, which is plastic sourced from recycled milk bottles. Any higher of a percentage, and the tube becomes too rigid for our customers to use. Disposable via curb side recycling.

Box

Delivered in our recyclable (via curb side recycling) and compostable (via at-home compost) ‘Well-Managed Forests’ certified card box, and printed with vegetable ink.

Removable lid

Delivered with a removable lid to best dispense product. These removable lids cannot be recycled as they are too small for the current sorting machines. Responsible disposing via a specialised recycling program such as Terracycle for responsible disposal.
