Caprylic/Capric triglyceride

A natural alternative that has antioxidant smoothening properties for your skin.
Glycerin

Our glycerin is sourced from organic coconut oil, and is a humectant that prevents water loss in your skin to keep it hydrated and moisturised for longer.
Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that naturally occurs in our bodies. It actively draws water into the skin (up to 1000x its weight) to plump your skin, reduce fine lines and deeply hydrate.
Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is a liquid wax and a natural occlusive agent, which moisturises, nourishes and protects your skin. Jojoba oil is a similar consistency to your skin's natural oils, making it a great option for oily skin as it helps to regulate sebum (oil) production and is non-comedogenic (meaning it won't clog your pores).
Golden mica

Mica is a shimmery powder made from ground natural earth mineral. Our mica is sourced responsibly via the responsible mica initiative. This gives your skin a soft luminous glow that catches light.
Milk thistle ester

Guess what, Milk Thistle Ester is the natural alternative to silicone (just saying). This locks in all the moisture and protects your skin from environmental stressors and pollution. Not only does it do this, but it also has antioxidant and calming effects, which helps protect your skin from UV light exposure.
Shea butter

Shea butter is a super nourishing ingredient that moisturises and smooths dry and irritated skin. It creates a protective barrier to lock in hydration.
Vitamin E

A lover of vitamins and for good reason. This fatty acid and antioxidant doubles down on being super nourishing for your skin. It protects against free radical damage, fights inflammation and boosts skin healing. And this natural vitamin E is derived from soybean oil through a non-chemical process before being blended with sunflower seed oil (oh, technology). The manufacturer for this material is a member of the round table on responsible soy (RTRS), and are “fully committed to the principles of environmental responsibility and good agricultural practices". It has the Tailor tick.
Aqua (water)

What makes up the bulk of this formulation. Water is used as the base of many skincare products including Awaken, as a solvent, because it is what the other ingredients in the formulation dissolve into, to create the formula (aka the end result).
Benzyl alcohol
[say it like] ben•zile al•kuh•hol
We're about to be very transparent with you here. This is our chosen preservative system in our skincare range. Benzyl alcohol is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-bacterial preservative used to stabilise skincare. It is multi-purpose (think Tailor) as it also helps dissolve other ingredients and decreases the viscosity (thickness) of formulas so they flow more easily - you know that squeeze of free-flow gel.
Dehydroacetic acid
[say it like] dee•high•jrow•seat•ick acid
One of our preservatives in Awaken with a potent anti-fungal to keep this safe to use for longer - because we all love a long shelf life. When mixed (& matched) with benzyl alcohol they create a broad-spectrum preservative against yeasts, moulds and fungi. Take note, our preservative system is made with synthetic materials that have been ECOCERT certified to be used in natural skincare.
Xanthan gum

This plant polysaccharide hydrates your skin without clogging your pores. And with long term use, it's been *scientifically proven* to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sodium phytate
[say it like] sow•dee•uhm feye•tayt
The stabiliser in the group. It is a texture enhancer to make formulas feel smooth to apply, and it is also a preservative which keeps skincare safe and free from microbes (aka nasties). We call this multi-purpose.
Glyceryl stearate
[say it like] glis•suh•rill stear•ate
This is one of our emollsifiers, which is a naturally derived fatty acid. It prevents oil and water from separating in Awaken, and helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier. It also doubles as an emollient, which acts as a natural lubricant to soften and smoothen your skin, also forming a protective barrier to hold in moisture.
Sodium stearoyl glutamate
[say it like] sow•dee•uhm stear•oll glue•ta•mate
This is one of our emollsifiers, which prevents oil and water from separating in Awaken, and helps to stabilise oil and water emulsions. It opens the pathway for other active ingredients to absorb into your skin, without compromising your skin barrier. It's super gentle on your skin, as it deeply conditions, nourishes and smoothens your skin. FYI, great for dry and dehydrated skin.
Cetearyl alcohol

This is one of our emollients, which is an oil-based formula which forms a protective film over the skin to hold moisture in the skin. It will deeply soften and smoothen your skin.
